The fourth generation of the Soules family joining Soules Foods marks a proud moment to reflect on our journey. While our foundation remains - family-owned, rooted in Tyler, TX, and deeply committed to our original purpose - our growth has been significant. From expanding our national footprint to serving a diverse customer base with innovative foodservice and retail offerings, we honor our heritage while passionately looking forward to sharing more Great Food, Made Simple.

1975

1975

The company is founded as Country Jim’s Meats. Founding partners John Soules, Sr., J.O. Thompson & L.F. Thompson produced raw ground beef patties and cutlets and delivered directly to stores and customers.

1985

John Soules, Sr. buys out his partners and changes the company name to John Soules Foods.

1987

Mark Soules (now Co-CEO) joins the company as its first and only salesman. The company spots a trendy food item emerging in Austin, TX and begins selling raw fajitas.

1993

John Soules, Jr. (now Co-CEO) joins the company as an Accounts Payable Clerk.

1994

On April 1, 1994, the John Soules Foods plant burns down and moves into Brookshires Grocery Stores SW Distribution Facility. Later that year, the company breaks ground on a new John Soules Foods plant.

2004

John Soules Foods becomes the #1 best selling fajitas in US grocery stores.

2010

Mark Soules and John Soules Jr. become Co-CEOs as John Soules Sr. transitions to the role of Chairman of the Board. The company attains a Certified Angus Beef® partnership.

2014

John Soules Foods acquires ProView Foods in Gainesville, GA, adding breaded chicken capabilities. The company earns its first Certified Angus Beef® sales awards, winning Value-Added Products Marketer of the Year and Top Processor Sales Volume Increase.

2021

The company opens up a brand new, state-of-the-art facility in Valley, AL to continue to support the growing business.

2022

National Provisioner Processor of the Year Award

2024

Claire Soules joins the company as a Product Development Chef, marking the fourth generation of the Soules family to be working at Soules Foods together.

2025

John Soules Foods celebrates 50 years of success. The company rebrands to Soules Foods and introduces the retail brand Soules Kitchen to foster continued growth and innovation for the future.

Our state-of-the-art facilities are the heart of everything we do, ensuring every fajita delivers the unmatched flavor and freshness you love.

Valley, AL

Construction of our Valley, Alabama facility began in 2020, with operations commencing in 2021. This state-of-the-art plant is designed to produce over 200 million pounds of fully cooked beef and chicken annually. Built in multiple phases with a total investment of over $150 million, this location features advanced processing lines and a dedicated wastewater treatment system. With a strong commitment to the local economy, the facility continues to grow, creating hundreds of new jobs and reinforcing our dedication to quality and innovation.

Established in 1975 and significantly expanded over the decades, our Tyler, Texas facility serves as the foundation of John Soules Foods. Spanning 266,000 square feet, this USDA-inspected plant is the hub of our value-added beef and chicken production. With multiple expansions and millions in investment, our Tyler location has played a vital role in making John Soules Foods the nation’s leading fajita processor, supplying top-quality products to restaurants, supermarkets, and foodservice providers across the country.

Acquired in 2014, our Gainesville, Georgia facility is a key part of our continued growth in the fully cooked and ready-to-cook chicken market. Originally operated as Pro View Foods, this facility now integrates John Soules Foods’ expertise in product innovation and manufacturing. With a highly skilled workforce and expanded production capabilities, our Gainesville location strengthens our presence in retail and foodservice, ensuring the highest levels of quality, efficiency, and food safety.
